Hyeonjeong Byeon
Ph.D. student, University of Washington

I am a second year Ph.D. student in the Human-Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington, advised by Professors Gary Hsieh and Sean A. Munson. I am also a Social Entrepreneurship Fellow through the Population Health Initiative, collaborating with Professor Weichao Yuwen.
My research focuses on designing conversational systems that facilitate effective communication between general users and domain experts, especially in contexts where scientific information, credibility, and health are involved. I empirically evaluate the effects of these systems in real or simulated use contexts.
Prior to joining UW, I did my undergrad in Computer Science & Engineering (minor in Statistics) at Ewha Womans University. I also worked at the Dynamic Graphics Project Lab at the University of Toronto and the HCI Lab at Ewha Womans University as an undergraduate research assistant.
